Fohnyx Vaile-Wherts Alfen (sometimes reffered to as 'Fenëk') is 23 year old man, brother of Seth and a core member of The Five. While he is the first-in-command of the group, Fohnyx is also the most dysfunctional, having frequent mood swings, fits of rage or solitude, while also battling alcoholism. He is not much of a talker. He was born on the 1st of April.
For a general description, Fohnyx is roughly 175cm tall, and weighs some 60 or so kilos. He's pretty average in terms of his build and strength, though he's still somewhat lean like his brother.
In his human form, he's much less pale and malnourished than his brother, taking on a fair-to-medium skin complexion. His hair is also black, and much much messier than his brother's (generally).
For his furry form, Fohnyx is a Hoary fox (alternatively 'raposinha-do-campo' or Lycalopex vetulus).
Early life
Fohnyx's life story is closely tied to that of his brother. They had an average life as middle-class children until Fohnyx's 5th to 6th birthday, when their parents died in a traffic accident, had no family to take care of them, and thus ended up having to learn to live on the streets. During this time, they mainly lived off of scraps and the occasional purchase they'd make with the money acquired from begging. Fohnyx, being older and thinking of himself as more "capable," thought that he should get priority for things like food, which caused his brother to become quite upset at him frequently.
As they grew older, Fohnyx, with his greater nutrition and age, begun to tend towards doing most of the physically demanding tasks, while Seth acted more as the mastermind behind their money-making schemes. Their schemes proved to be rather effective, and they were able to live much more comfortably compared to before, being able to actually buy food most days.
It wasn't all great news, however. Fohnyx's antics and selfishness was too much for Seth, who after turning 13, decided to leave Fohnyx altogether to follow his own path. Being a bit of a loner already, Seth's departure led Fohnyx to practically isolate himself from anyone else. He'd wander about, doing odd jobs here and there to scrape by, but not much of significance. After roughly a year of this, he decided that enough was enough, and after turning 15, he begun to look for his brother, eventually stumbling across him in a not-too-far town.
Fohnyx had been stalking Seth for a few hours before their reunion, in hopes of making some sort of grand entrance at the right moment. After a villain-esque introduction, the two ended up making peace. Fohnyx met a few of the friends Seth made along his journey, eventually also meeting Devon too, but the two would again split up some time later, for mostly miscellanious reasons this time. Fohnyx would go back to hopping from place to place, and getting himself in trouble, which eventually led him to get ambushed by mobsters, who thought he was a cop. Fohnyx was shot several times, and like his brother, died of blood lost amidst a confused gaggle of armed criminals.
Giorgias and the contract
As had his brother, Fohnyx found himself in The Void when he woke up from death. There awaiting him was the blob — Giorgias, the Puppet Master — and a written contract for him to sign. As opposed to his brother, Fohnyx initially resisted, but after some deliberation, convincing, and using Seth as blackmail, he was eventually coersed into signing away his soul too.
Fohnyx's roots date back to 2016-2017. The most earliest concept that I can remember is *heavily* based off of Foxy from FNaF, both the name and, y'know, the whole fox thing? However, his concept would slowly shift as I reduced my consumption of FNaF-related things, and begun to watch more storytime content. Around mid-2018, when I made my first discord account, I would play around with a multitude of fox-related name. Later in 2019 I would then change my name to 'Neko', of which the specifics I don't exactly remember, but do recall really liking the aesthetics of cat people (as in catboys and catgirls; this was before I begun to identify as a furry, also).
'Neko Marrkal' stayed as his official name for a long time. From the files on my archive, the oldest mention of it is from the 6th of April, 2020, and chatlogs indicate it was replaced by December of 2021, when I'd begin referring to him as 'Fonyx', though I was still playing around with other names which also had the letter 'F'. In March of 2022, I briefly referred to him as 'FeNëk', before finally settling on Fohnyx. This has been the official name for him since. 'Fenëk' is also acceptable, but 'Fohnyx' is preferrable.
The origin of the surname 'Vaile' is debatable. One of the explanations that I could find which respects the lore is that Fohnyx, after splitting up from Seth during The Dark Times [I will add this to the lore section later, please be patient], Fohnyx stuck to his roots, while Seth fancied himself a new name, and they combined their name after reuniting. Another valid explanation is that, after getting into WW2 history, I thought to reuse the 'Vail Allen' surname, but give it a more european, maybe Finnish spin to it (not saying it is neither but whatever), which is how I got the name as it is now.
